The role
An exciting and unique opportunity to forward your career by joining our Assets team as the Technical Superintendent based at Balmain Shipyard. Essentially this role requires you to develop and maintain a life cycle Technical Maintenance Plan and approve all maintenance and repairs within Transdev Sydney Ferries.
This role requires you to have strong commercial acumen and leadership approach when dealing with shipyard activities to promote quality processes and delivery of maintenance activities. Managing work for Major Planned Maintenance and upgrade activities as well as timely ordering of critical parts in advance is just some of the main duties of this role. The overall objective of this opportunity is to manage and monitor performance of our vessels and rectify issues identified to ensure there is a reduction in vessel downtime.
What you bring
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Extensive experience in vessel operations, maintenance, repair and quality management in a best practice environment
- Relevant trade/degree qualifications in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, an AMSA Maritime Engineering qualification an advantage
- Experience working with Planned Maintenance Systems.
- Strong budgetary awareness, ability to forecast maintenance cost estimates to achieve positive commercial outcomes
- Experience with Configuration Management, change proposals and documentation
- Deep knowledge and understanding of Marine Safety regulations, project management, control systems and inventory management.
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
- Driven to achieve the best practice approach to solving critical technical issues regarding our fleet
