About Great River City Light Rail

Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.


The role

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for all maintenance activities related to substations and overhead wiring line assets for the network. This will include maintenance on traction power systems assets and low voltage equipment and carrying out 11KV high voltage and 750V DC operational switching and isolation activities. In addition, you will be responsible for writing, issuing and checking electrical work instructions for the team.


What you bring

Whilst this role is focused on High Voltage maintenance, we are open to your industry experience. This role requires the candidate to have an Electrical Licence, and if you are in rail, a certificate III in either Rail Traction or Distribution Overhead is desirable. However, we are also looking for Electricians from both the commercial and industrial sectors who are willing to be developed through on the job learning and supported by the business, to obtain a high voltage isolation & access licence. Regardless of industry background, your high-level problem-solving skills will allow you to manage difficult situations including responding to emergencies and restoring assets after incidents. This will be supported by the ability carry out asset inspections and undertake fault finding and ensure asset reliability.
