6 + weeks paid training & supported by mentor drivers

must be available to work on a full rotating roster (including nights & weekends)

Based at either Randwick, Pyrmont or Camellia Depots

We are recruiting for the Inner West and CBD / Randwick Networks in Sydney and the Parramatta Network - with training schools scheduled for June to December this year

What do you need to become a light rail driver?

  • You must have a proven record of safe driving on the road and have a current NSW Drivers Licence (C Class) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience on your full licence (not including Learners/Provisional).

  • Being a full-time light rail driver means a commitment to shift work and being available to work on a
rotating roster, minimum 38 hours per week. Your shifts will include early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays.

  • We have an uncompromising attitude to the safety of our employees, clients, and customers. It is important that you are medically fit to perform the functions of a light rail driver and our pre-employment medical checks including drug & alcohol testing will confirm this. Our recruitment process also includes police, licence, and right-to-work checks.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and experience at communicating with a broad range of stakeholders are also essential.

Transdev’s commitment to you

Because we are convinced everyone has something to offer people and society, you will be joining a welcoming organisation that embraces diversity and invests in its people so you can make your mark, push boundaries and reach your maximum potential. Many of our team leaders and managers started their careers at Transdev as light rail drivers and thrived on the opportunity.

As a light rail driver, you will receive paid training and continuous support from the team leaders and your colleagues. Your 6 weeks training will include theory and being out on the network paired with a mentor so you can gain first-hand driving experience. As a journey maker you will have access to five weeks of annual leave, competitive pay and other employee benefits such as free on-site parking and an Opal Card.

Our full list of benefits and why we are recognised as an Endorsed Employer for Women by WORK180 can be seen on our Work180 page
