The role


We are looking for eager and motivated individuals with the technical skills who are interested in becoming an Outer Harbour Engineer.

As an Engineer – Freshwater Outer Harbour, you will be required to ensure Passenger Services vessels are maintained to a required statutory level of operating and safety requirements. You will directly report to the Head of Operations People Service Delivery and reporting to the Vessel Master when afloat.

Your aim is to assist in maintaining vessel availability and reliability to maintain maximum on-time running to meet the needs of customers.

With other tasks that will involve:

Assist in establishing and maintaining quality management system

Following start-up, shut down and hand over procedures

Operating and maintaining vessel machinery including routine maintenance

Planning the testing of ferry systems and equipment

Coordinating system tests and collating analysis reports

Preparing pre incident reports and monitoring ferry systems

Monitoring fuel consumption and recording fuel sounding reports and

Assisting external authorities with survey inspections and ensuring problems are rectified to achieve certification.

You must be prepared to undertake shift work including weekend and public holidays.

What you bring

Demonstrated experience in routine maintenance on vessel machineray and equipment

Sound knowledge and ability to fault find and rectify problems on board vessels

A minimum of Certificate of Competency Engineer Class 2 (International Qualification) as well as a Marined Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED2) or Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED2) (Domestic Qualifications) all issued by AMSA

A Class 1 (Motor) Certificate of Competency; or a Class 1 Certificate of Recognition; a Class 2 Certificate of Validity or a Class 2 Certificate of Recognition

Medical Fitness - AMSA Form (303) (Engineer Class 2)

Current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)

Work well within a team environment

Commitment to provide high quality customer service with both internal and external customers

Strong oral and written communications skills

Good time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
