Your impact
As our Associate Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining the data foundations that support operational decision‑making across Transdev Australia and New Zealand. You’ll work closely with senior engineers to develop data pipelines, improve data quality, and strengthen our data governance practices as we modernise our analytics platforms.
This is a hands‑on, growth‑focused role — perfect for graduates or early‑career technologists ready to learn, experiment, and build real solutions at scale.
What you’ll do
Build, run and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and PySpark on Microsoft Fabric.
Develop SQL transformations, curated tables and datasets to support reporting and analytics.
Implement and document data quality checks (completeness, accuracy, timeliness).
Support troubleshooting of data issues, failures and anomalies.
Work with analysts, business teams and senior engineers to understand requirements.
Communicate clearly and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge‑sharing culture.
Support wider organisational priorities including DEI and cultural change initiatives.
What you bring
Experience and qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
Recent graduates or current students nearing completion are encouraged to apply
Certifications (Azure, AWS, Fabric, SQL) are a bonus — not essential.
Technical skills:
Strong SQL skills including joins, window functions, CTEs and basic optimisation.
Foundational Python for data engineering (Pandas, file handling, APIs) and/or Spark fundamentals.
Understanding of data modelling concepts (star schemas, slowly changing dimensions).
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure or AWS is desirable.
Attributes:
High attention to detail, testing mindset, and commitment to data quality
Curiosity, willingness to learn and a growth mindset
Clear communication and a collaborative approach
Reliability in following standards, processes and structured delivery methods
Don’t tick every box? That’s okay. At Transdev, we believe the right mindset, curiosity, and drive can outweigh a perfect resume. If you’re excited by the role and what we’re building, we’d love to hear from you.
