About Lumea

LUMEA is creating a smarter energy future for Australia. As the commercial arm of Transgrid, LUMEA has built a reputation as experts in developing energy connections, management and storage assets, as well as managing technically and commercially innovative projects. We also provide cutting-edge telecommunications services, manage one of Australia’s most extensive fibre networks and a high number of wireless colocation sites. Join our team of talented and diverse individuals, and work on exciting projects that are transforming the Australian energy landscape.

LUMEA is a Transgrid brand. Transgrid's network is the backbone of the National Energy Market, enabling energy trading between Australia’s three largest states along the east coast and supporting the competitive wholesale electricity market to deliver safe, reliable and low-cost power for more than three million homes and businesses.

About the role

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial workstream across projects, from contract formation through to construction delivery and close-out. Reporting to the Director of Project Commercials, you will lead negotiations, manage contractual risk and safeguard commercial outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

This is complex, high-impact work where the commercial decisions you make today will help shape the success of major infrastructure for years to come.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the commercial workstream across complex infrastructure projects, with a focus on:

  • Leading upstream contract negotiations, claims and dispute-resolution processes
  • Partnering with delivery teams to manage customer claims following contract execution
  • Assessing contractual risks and ensuring strong governance and due diligence
  • Oversee variations, cost control and value-for-money positions to protect margin
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise commercial and contract management practices across the business
  • Influencing senior stakeholders, driving commercial close-out and developing high-performing teams

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring strong commercial leadership experience across complex infrastructure environments, including:

  • 10–15+ years in construction and engineering, with significant Commercial or Contracts Management leadership
  • Proven expertise managing large-scale capital infrastructure contracts
  • Strong upstream contract negotiation and risk mitigation capability
  • Deep understanding of governance, cost control, forecasting and claims management, including construction claims preparation and close-out
  • Adaptability and resilience in high-value project environments; a qualification in Construction Law is desirable but not essential

Why this role

This is an opportunity to influence major infrastructure. You will apply critical thinking and decisive action to complex challenges, strengthen commercial performance and make decisions that support infrastructure outcomes for years to come.
