The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Pre Sales Engineer to join Transgrid – LUMEA. As thePre Sales Engineer you will be responsible for providing advice and technical support to the Business Development Manager and customers as well as undertaking the detailed solution design on allocated projects. You will also be hold design responsibilities mainly in the areas of Optical DWDM system, Microwave Radio, Carrier Ethernet/MPLS, Internet and SD-WAN network.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the Pre Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for;
- Providing technical advice in compliance with appropriate standards for the solution design and implementation
- Supporting the management of the Connect Master design and asset/service management software for the provisioning of Transgrid Telecommunications Network/Service including Wavelength, Carrier Ethernet, Internet/IP transit, SD-WAN and Cloud services
- Liaise with other teams, external contractors, equipment vendors and 3rd party Service Providers to plan project work, to provide specific design inputs and documentation, to support in procurement of equipment.
- Design of Telecommunications Networks and Solutions for our Sales and Business Development Teams.
- Assist in providing engineering support during commissioning of Telecommunications systems.
- Sound knowledge of Telecommunications systems (MPLS Ethernet, IP network, Microwave Radio, DWDM systems and SD-WAN).
- Document Administration, including; preparing specification documents, drawings, rack layout and pricing schedules, administering contracts and orders, assisting in evaluation of tenders and report preparations
- Developing comprehensive reports in compliance with appropriate standards
- Produce the drawings related to Telecommunication projects and Communication services and manage documents in centralised and controlled document management systems.
Skills & Experience
What we expect from you:
- Tertiary qualification at degree level or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills; computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office software
- Well-developed interpersonal, business reporting skills and problem solving skills with ability to work independently under minimum supervision
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines, which govern safety, engineering design, environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projects.
- Current driver’s licence and the ability to work away from assigned location
- Telecommunications specific requirements
- Demonstrated ability with the detailed design and commissioning of DWDM/microwave systems and “for construction”
- Demonstrated experience in field investigations to analyse system/service faults to enable the development and recommendation of preferred solution
- Sound knowledge of Microwave (e.g. NEC), DWDM (e.g. Cinea & Nokia), MPLS (e.g. Nokia) and SD-WAN technologies, knowledge of mobile LTE/5G to support Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) or O-RAN in support future development would be beneficial but not essential
- Some experience in Telecommunication Management System (OSS/BSS NMS and Telecom Provisioning/inventory software like Connect Master) in order to support the continuous improvement and automation of the presales, service provisioning and service assurance processes
