The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join the Asset Management team at Transgrid as the Senior Transmission Line Strategy Engineer . The role will be responsible for the development and implementation of the renewal and maintenance strategies and plans for Transgrid’s high voltage transmission lines assets in order to achieve best practice performance and effectively balance cost, risk, performance over the entire asset lifecycle.
You will provide technical direction and advice to the organisations future need for augmentation and development of the Transmission Lines assets.
In the role of the Senior Transmission Line Strategy Engineer you will also:
- Develop renewal and maintenance strategies and plans for Transgrid’s Transmission Lines asset in line with Transgrid’s Asset Management System
- Monitor and analyse the effectiveness of Transmission Lines renewal and maintenance strategies to achieve optimal performance and cost efficiencies over the entire lifecycle of the assets
- Develops and applies Asset Information System strategies and plans that relate to transmission lines assets, including development and review of asset health index, probability of failure and consequence models
- Analyses and reports on asset performance, based on condition, risk, inspection results, testing programs, financial data and implement into asset strategies
- Develop needs, analyse options, and prepare business case required for the management of the performance of transmission lines and cables assets in accordance with the Prescribed Capital Investment Process.
- Investigate, report, and implementation of new technologies to improve asset performance assessment and management.
- Reviews technical standards for the design and construction of transmission lines assets
- Leads or provide input into investigations of equipment failures and performance of transmission lines and cables assets and provides recommendation reports covering safety, environment, reliability and liability issues.
- Supports the management of transmission lines equipment spares through policies and strategies for procurement, location and distribution
- Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders and build positive relationships
Skills & Experience
What we expect from you:
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering with extensive experience in engineering practice related to transmission lines and cables design, maintenance, construction and asset management
- Sound technical knowledge of the design, construction, operation, maintenance or analysis of in transmission lines and cables assets and equipment
- Sound understanding of the concepts and application of risk management
- Commercial acumen
- Knowledge of legal requirements relating to the construction and maintenance of high voltage infrastructure, safety issues and the environment
- Ability to apply both technical and economic components in the evaluation of options for solution of transmission lines and cables asset management issues
- Experience in industrial relations matters and general business acumen
- Well-developed people and service management skills
- Excellent written communications skills for persuasive reports and submissions
- Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills
- Skills and performance in change management
- Knowledge of various computer systems and Q.A. procedures
