Telecommunication Technician
As a Telecommunications Technician at Transgrid, you will be responsible for the maintenance, installation and commissioning of complex Telecommunications and Network Infrastructure that will shape the future of the energy industry in Australia, including connecting renewable energy to the network.
You will actively:
- Oversee and perform a leading role in the maintenance, repair, installation, testing and commissioning activities for both internal and external stakeholders, in compliance with relevant procedures, standards and manufacturer instructions
- Provide high quality technical advice and support associated with Telecommunications and Network activities
- Provide input, research and support for the development of improved work methods
- Have extensive knowledge across multiple Telecommunications and Network disciplines
- Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and customers in a clear and timely manner, providing them with relevant and appropriate information
- Provide leadership to work teams in the field, ensuring that work is completed in accordance with Transgrid’s Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- Provide standby support for emergency incidents, involving internal and external customers
- Work and operate in a manner which supports the Health and Safety outcomes of our people and our business
Electrical Substation Technician
As a Substation Technician at Transgrid, you will be responsible providing practical and technical expertise in substation electrical work including fault finding, repairs, maintenance, installation and commissioning of assets within Transgrid’s Substations that will shape the future of the energy industry in Australia, including connecting renewable energy to the network.
You will actively:
- Work and operate in a manner which supports the Health and Safety outcomes of our people and our business
- Assist in development and mentoring of apprentices and junior Substations Technicians and provide performance feedback to assist in development and performance management
- Assist with resource and material estimating and planning associated with work on substation assets
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure work is completed to a satisfactory standard and in a timely manner. Be accountable for delivery of construction and maintenance tasks to meet delivery expectations and budget
- Prepare detailed reports on failures or condition concerns for work
- Upon completion of work, ensure that clear, complete and organised documentation is retained in corporate systems and that further work required is logged
- Ensure materials, tools and test equipment sufficient for planned task is available and ready prior to commencement of work.
- Prepare safe work methods and associated safety documentation
- Develop the capabilities and then perform High Voltage switching, Low voltage Isolations in accordance with Transgrid policies and procedures
- Develop the capabilities and then provide “standby” services for substation equipment emergency incidents, including loss of supply
Secondary Systems Technician
As a Secondary Systems Technician at Transgrid, you will be responsible for the maintenance, installation and commissioning of Substation Protection and Metering Systems that will shape the future of the energy industry in Australia, including connecting renewable energy to the network.
You will actively:
- Oversee and perform a leading role in the maintenance, installation, testing and commissioning activities involving Secondary Systems of Substation Assets, including the utilisation of technical knowledge for fault finding and rectification of:
- Substations and transmission protection schemes
- Protection circuits
- Auxiliary control systems
- Substation metering installations
- Provide high quality technical advice and support
- Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and customers in a clear and timely manner, providing them with relevant and appropriate information
- Perform High Voltage switching, Low Voltage Isolations and Protection and Metering Withdrawal Instructions in accordance with Transgrid policies and procedures
- Provide leadership to work teams in the field, ensuring that work is completed in accordance with Transgrid’s Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- Provide standby support for emergency incidents, including loss of supply
- Work and operate in a manner which supports the Health and Safety outcomes of our people and our business
Substation Control Technician
As a Substation Control Technician at Transgrid, you will provide high-level support in relation to SCADA Remote Terminal Units, Substation Controls and Data Networks that will shape the future of the energy industry in Australia, including connecting renewable energy to the network.
You will actively:
- Oversee and perform installation, testing and commissioning activities of Substation Control Systems for new installations and augmentation for existing Substations
- Develop processes and procedures in relation to the installation, commissioning and maintenance of SCADA Remote Terminal Units, Substation Controls and Data Networks
- Perform design work associated with minor modifications to SCADA Remote Terminal Unites and Substation Controls
- Review Control System technical equipment and provide high quality technical advice and support
- Fault find Control System technical equipment during commissioning and for defect maintenance
- Prepare specification for control minor work projects
- Provide input, research and support for the development of improved work methods
- Have extensive knowledge of Control System Technical Equipment
- Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and customers in a clear and timely manner, providing them with relevant and appropriate information
- Provide leadership to work teams in the field, ensuring that work is completed in accordance with Transgrid’s Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- Work and operate in a manner which supports the Health and Safety outcomes of our people and our business
