Be the Face of the Project. Build Trust. Strengthen Community.
In the New England region, the energy transition is not just about infrastructure it’s about people. Transgrid is seeking a dedicated and community-driven Community Place Manager for a two-year fixed term contract to serve as the trusted on ground connection between our energy infrastructure project and the communities it supports.
This is more than an engagement role. It is an opportunity to protect and strengthen Transgrid’s social licence to operate by ensuring local voices are heard, respected, and reflected in how projects are delivered.
Be the Trusted Link Between Project and Community
Reporting to the Community Engagement and Investment Manager, you will act as the primary contact point for landowners and community members across the New England region.
Your local insight and relationship-building expertise will be central to:
- Conducting face-to-face consultation with landholders and community members
- Discussing project objectives clearly and transparently
- Negotiating and facilitating land access arrangements and consents
- Coordinating closely with property, environmental, and project SME teams
- Ensuring timely, accurate, and transparent communication with stakeholders
Where others see complexity, you build clarity. Where there are concerns, you create constructive dialogue.
Drive Engagement That Builds Long-Term Value
This role demands leadership in community engagement strategy and delivery. You will:
- Design and facilitate engagement activities including meetings, forums, briefings, workshops, and information sessions in line with IAP2 standards
- Develop and implement Community and Stakeholder Engagement Plans aligned with Transgrid’s Community Engagement Framework
- Identify potential community risks and opportunities and implement proactive mitigation strategies
- Manage complaints and enquiries processes, including escalations and approvals
- Create high-quality communication materials to support engagement initiatives
You will also identify and help shape community benefit and legacy projects that align with local priorities — ensuring the project leaves a positive and lasting contribution to the region.
The Experience You Bring
You are an experienced community engagement professional who thrives in complex infrastructure environments and understands the sensitivities of land access and regional stakeholder management.
