The Opportunity | Greater Sydney, Hunter, Orange, Tamworth & Yass Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Technical Training Coordinator to join our Technical Training team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of paternity leave.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a highly visible and business-critical role supporting the coordination and delivery of enterprise-wide technical, compliance, onboarding and capability-based training programs across Transgrid. Working at the centre of a complex operational environment, you will help ensure employees and contractors are trained, scheduled, compliant and ready to work safely.
You will work closely with trainers, operational stakeholders, apprentice and early careers contacts, internal schedulers, field coordinators, Registered Training Organisations, contractors and external providers to coordinate end-to-end training logistics across multiple programs. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys solving problems, and can bring structure and order to a fast-moving environment.
A Day in the Life
No two days will look exactly the same in this role, but at its core, you will be the person helping keep technical training delivery organised, on schedule and running smoothly.
You might start the day reviewing upcoming training activity and making sure everything is in place for the days and weeks ahead, including:
- trainer availability
- bookings and calendars
- venues, facilities, equipment and materials
- participant communications and requirements
From there, you could be liaising with internal stakeholders to coordinate changes, responding to shifting operational priorities, or updating training schedules to reflect new requirements. One day may be focused on compliance training, another on ad hoc business requests, onboarding activity, apprenticeship programs or contractor-based training requirements.
A big part of the role is staying across the many moving pieces that sit behind successful training delivery. This includes:
- managing calendars, schedules and logistics across multiple systems
- maintaining training records, reporting and system updates
- identifying training gaps and supporting audit readiness
- working through scheduling conflicts, system issues and last-minute changes
- coordinating with operational teams, trainers and RTOs to align delivery with business needs
At times, you will need to think on your feet, troubleshoot issues, and find practical solutions to keep training on track in a complex operational environment. You will also play an important part in supporting workforce readiness by helping ensure the right people are booked into the right training at the right time, while maintaining the governance and compliance standards expected in a regulated industry.
Why this role matters
Technical training plays a critical role in the safe and effective operation of our network. This role helps ensure our workforce and contractors are trained, compliant and supported through well-planned schedules, strong stakeholder engagement and disciplined coordination.
The breadth of this role is what makes it so impactful. You will support a wide range of programs across compliance, development, apprenticeships, onboarding and authorisations, while balancing operational priorities, outage windows, resource availability and changing business needs. In short, your work helps keep capability building on track and supports safe outcomes across the business.
About You
You are highly organised, detail-oriented and confident managing multiple priorities at once. You enjoy working in a role where no two days are the same, and you bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to coordination in a complex environment.
You will likely bring:
- proven experience in training coordination, learning administration or workforce capability support
- strong scheduling, planning and stakeholder negotiation skills
- experience working with Learning Management Systems, training calendars and enterprise scheduling tools
- high attention to detail, particularly in compliance tracking, governance and audit readiness
- strong communication and relationship management capability
- experience working with Registered Training Organisations and operational stakeholders
- the ability to manage competing priorities and remain agile in a reactive environment
Experience in utilities, construction, infrastructure, or other highly regulated and operationally complex industries will be highly regarded. Exposure to project management, commercial coordination, onboarding or workforce planning environments will also be beneficial.
