The Return to Work Specialist (Fitness for Work Business Partner) is a key resource of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) function, driving positive change in the health of employees at Transurban. The position's primary responsibility is to enhance the organisations HSE culture through the development and delivery of a holistic "Fitness for Work" program by remaining at the forefront of best practice.

The impact you'll have
  • You'll get to work in an exciting role unlike no other, that focuses on both return to work (3 days) and continuous improvement/strategy (2 days).
  • You'll be accountable for a broad range of tasks including the management of return-to-work planning, injury and workers compensation management, salary continuance claims management, ergonomics management, alcohol and other drugs testing coordination and management, fatigue management, pre-employment medical assessment management and other fitness for work and health related activities.
  • You'll develop and maintain key business relationships, provide strong WHS leadership, and develop a strong understanding of the Transurban business & operating models. This role is critical in the delivery of a high quality HSE support service to the business. This is a key role in the shaping and support of the HSE culture.
  • You'll be responsible for enhancing the positive HSE culture within organisation wide leadership teams.

If you've got one or more, we'd love to hear from you!
  • Formal qualifications in Human Resources or Health and Safety and Mental Health (desirable).
  • You'll have broad experience in the end-to-end management of workers' compensation claims, including comprehensive knowledge of best practice fitness for work initiatives and experience in the design and delivery of fitness for work and employee health activities and programs.
  • You'll draw on a solid understanding of HSE principles and practices and extensive experience in the management of return-to-work plans for injured workers.
  • You'll be a people person with an ability to build strong relationships, as well as well-developed interpersonal skills and written communication skills.
  • You'll be able to sensitively manage issues that impact our employees, with proven ability to establish priorities, work to timelines, autonomously or as part of a team.
  • You'll have energy, enthusiasm and passion to enable the driving of cultural change.
