UGL Unipart Rail Services Pty Ltd (UGL Unipart ) was founded in December 2011 as a Joint Venture between UGL (Australia) and Unipart Rail (UK). UGL Unipart operates a Rail Maintenance Facility at Auburn where it maintains rolling stock for Sydney Trains, Transport for New South Wales, and other rail operators.
UGL Unipart is seeking an experienced Production Manager / Service Delivery Manager - Rolling Stock Maintenance who will be responsible for ensuring the build schedule is maintained within the required planned-versus-actual hours and for the management and safety of their direct reports.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Monitor and track planned-versus-actual build hours throughout the build process
- Manage financial performance and overtime levels advised by the Operations Manager
- Manage crews and the performance of staff at all times (including overtime)
- Put in place corrective action plans for any issues affecting the build process
- Ensure documentation including job cards, record cards, databases, test sheets, fatigue policy, MJIs and SWMS are completed, maintained and accurate
- Contribute to and maintain the project QA system.
- Ensure all necessary steps are taken to minimise Environmental risks to the Company.
- Advise when work to be completed is uneconomical, unsafe, or otherwise not suitable
- To identify and follow any special processes in MJHA’s, MJI’s and work instructions
- Ensure compliance with all record-keeping requirements
About you
- Experience in a production environment with sound knowledge of the rail industry and the Rail Safety Act
- At least five years’ relevant management and supervisory experience
- Previous experience managing a team with set delivery target to be achieved
- Project management skills preferably with a background in maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering
- Experience and understanding of manufacturing resource planning systems and procedures
- Sound understanding of budgetary, cost control, and performance measurement activities
- High degree of computer literacy including spreadsheet and database applications
- RISI / RSW Accreditation and a working knowledge of quality control systems
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships
- Able to work independently, prioritise demands, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient skills in MS Word, Excel, and email software
