About the role
The role of the Senior Engineer, Mechanical is to produce mechanical engineering deliverables under direction from the Lead Engineer and management for the Major Project team in Melbourne. This may include performing HVAC, Tunnel Ventilation, Pumped Drainage or Steelworks engineering functions. The role is also designed to include the following duties\:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the overall project and effectively communicate such understanding to the applicable Project Team and/or direct reports.
- Achieve engineering targets and objectives as assigned from the Line Manager.
- Provide input and be responsible for the production of Project Documentation.
- Actively participate in regular learning and development programs to continually enhance and further develop skills, capabilities and performance.
- Participate in design review meetings and close out design issues in a timely manner.
- Display a positive approach to safety and proactively demonstrate UGL's values.
- Comply with all UGL systems and processes and expected behaviours and standards.
- Adhere to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace.
- Undertake any ad hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
- Provide mentoring to graduate engineers (direct reports).
- Create a team culture that fosters high performance and personal improvement mindset.
- Construction support, procurement and tender evaluations.
About You
- Degree qualification to Bachelor status in Mechanical Engineering.
- Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia.
- Registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer.
- At least 8 years’ experience in tunnel ventilation, MVAC, pumped drainage and steelworks related to road/rail tunnel projects or building services projects.
- At least 6 years’ experience in design, procure & construct in a project environment in Australia.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
