About the role:
The Media and Public Affairs Advisor will be responsible for coordinating communication between Unitywater and the news media, including preparation of media releases, making judgements on appropriate media responses whilst also monitoring and interpreting the media for Executive Managers.

This role also provides strategic communications advice for issues in addition to being responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating public relations and communications programs. Working closely with key stakeholders, having skills in public relations, stakeholder communications, events, copywriting and managing issues will be critical to delivering effective campaigns that have impact.

A particular focus for this role is developing and implementing website, social and digital media campaigns and tools to meet the needs of Unitywater, its customers and the community. This will ensure the proactive and reactive management of public affairs issues across all channels.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience of communications practices, directions and trends across a range of communications disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and evaluate communications strategies to support program outcomes, business goals and stakeholder management objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships to influence a diverse range of stakeholders in a customer-focused environment.
  • Proven communications and stakeholder management experience in complex, multi-functional organisations with multiple external stakeholders.
  • Experience in establishment and delivery of communications and marketing activities in an environment of organisational change with proven ability to manage conflicting timeframes and stakeholder expectations.
  • Understanding of streaming video services, digital content packages, podcasts and audio recordings.
  • Knowledge of video and film industry standard specifications and digital media workflows.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into simple easy-to-understand terms for non-technical audiences.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing or public relations;
  • C Class Driver’s License.
