About the role:
We are excited to offer a Leading Hand opportunity at our Southern Service Centre in Morayfield, where you will lead a team to deliver key construction and maintenance activities for Unitywater. In this hands-on role, your responsibilities will include pipe laying, connecting to existing infrastructure, and modifying or replacing manholes, valve pits, overflow structures, pump stations, and associated pipe work, valves, and fittings. You will play a vital role in ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with SEQ codes, while implementing and monitoring traffic, environmental management plans, and site controls. About you:

  • A positive, solution-focused attitude and a strong safety focus.
  • Leadership skills to guide a crew in construction and maintenance tasks, including mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Proficient in excavation, trenching, pipe laying, slinging and lifting loads, working around services, cable location, de-watering, and traffic management.
  • Visible safety leadership with experience in assessing and controlling hazards to ensure safe onsite work in line with safe work method statements.
  • Demonstrated experience in pipe laying for water and sewage infrastructure and installation of metered water connections.
  • Knowledge of hygiene standards for working with potable water.
  • Holds an MR or C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans.
  • Familiarity with Unitywater systems and processes (Maximo, EzMax, Unimap, risk assessment processes) is highly regarded however not essential.
