About the role
Ventia currently have an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Floating Dock Engineer/Dock Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Floating Dock Engineer, this role is offered as a fixed-term contract till end of March 2024 and is based within the Australian Marine Complex Common User Facility (AMC CUF) in Henderson.
The AMC CUF is a multi-industry, multi-user industrial facility serviced by a deep-water port, a floating dock and transfer system, specialised load out wharves, extensive laydown and assembly areas and several large fabrication halls. Ventia provides Business Development and Marketing Services, Asset Management Services, Facility Management Services and Operator Services.
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Maintaining Floating Dock and Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT) to meet legislative and operational demands
- Always maintain the Floating Dock Certification with Bureau Veritas and other licensing authorities
- Check, confirm/authorise and complete all maintenance activities for the Floating Dock and SPMTs
- Maintain the Floating Dock and SPMTs in a safe and operational condition
- Maintain the Floating dock and SPMTs to meet availability targets
- Scheduling and keeping accurate record of all preventative and Planned maintenance activities and reports to meet our contract KPIs
- Conduct planned maintenance of the Floating Dock and SPMTs to maximise availability and contracting of maintenance services for the Floating Dock and SPMTs
- Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance contracts
- Assist in the development, review and implementation of operational procedures and monitor facilities and assets to ensure compliance
- To carry out docking and undocking operational activities
- Coordinate and monitor SPMT operations and utilisation
- Coordinate the integration of Floating Dock and SPMT activities with CUF operations
We are looking for people with the following skills and attributes:
- Minimum 3 years as a Marine Engineer Class 1, 2 or 3 or equivalent marine/naval maintenance experience
- 2 years’ experience in maintenance management
- Experience issuing permits to work
- Experience of using an electronic maintenance management program. SAP an advantage
- Knowledge of safety and environmental control
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to build effective relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Physically able to access all locations on the Floating Dock including confined spaces e.g. ballast tanks
- Courteous, polite and well presented in the workplace environment
- Able to work effectively under pressure
