In partnership with the Australia Defence Force, we are seeking a SHEQ Advisor to join the Ventia Defence SHEQ team, with the role based at HMAS Cerberus at the Royal Australian Navy base.
As a SHEQ Advisor, your primary responsibility is to deliver on the SHEQ requirements of the program utilising systems and process to foster an integrated approach to SHEQ management in delivering on legal, contractual, and business requirements.
Occasional travel to other Defence locations in regional areas will be required for this role.
This is a fixed term contract until July 2024.
About the role:
- Inform and implement Safety Management Plans across the project.
- Adhere with legislations, regulations, and standards and that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, and with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation.
- Undertake aspects of Environment and Quality function.
- Undertake investigations in relation to safety related incidents or issues and provide recommendations through the contract leadership team.
- Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures including fostering a culture of ‘safety and health above all else.
- Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are maintained and all records are managed in accordance with Company requirements.
- Ensuring that the Ventia “Critical Risk Protocols” are embedded in the project through Leaders.
- Promoting the participation of all people in achieving a safe workplace with zero impact on the environment.
- Assist in delivering the audit program.
- Develop and deliver safety related training when required including new starter induction, toolbox talks and prestart meetings.
About you:
- Tertiary Qualification in Workplace/ Occupation Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Health, Environmental or Quality Equivalent.
- Formal training in incident investigation.
- Demonstrated experience in safety / environment / quality or relevant industry role.
- Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment.
- Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience in Occupational Hygiene.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture.
