The Role
Ventia are currently recruiting for a Food & Beverage Supervisor to supervise day-to-day Mess and Bar operations, and associated front of house personnel, to ensure efficient service delivery and exceptional customer experiences. This role will see you based at Edinburgh.


This role is a fulltime position, working Monday – Friday from 7:00am – 6:00pm with the occasional late night function.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to

  • Work closely with the Mess Committee and Defence Force Members to ensure hospitality and catering requirements are understood and service standards are consistently met
  • On-board all new Food & Beverage team members, ensuring they understand the behaviour expectations that apply to them for living and working at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
  • Prepare weekly roster.
  • Assist with maintaining employee records and timesheets.
  • Performance manage Food & Beverage team members including creating and communicating clear performance expectations, monitoring work performance, and providing specific performance feedback to encourage and/or correct work performance.
  • Ensure that all cash is handled and banked in line with company and client protocols, and immediately report any suspicious behaviour
  • Review customer comments and feedback on a daily basis, ensuring concerns are investigated and customers receive a professional response in a timely manner
  • Regularly inspect all Mess areas, including outdoor BBQ areas, ensuring they are maintained, clean and presentable, and all required repairs and maintenance are reported
  • Examine notice boards and mess signage daily, including menus and allergen notices, ensuring current information is displayed

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising food and beverage service.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification. (RSA)
  • Sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation and statutory obligations.
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Insight IMS (or similar integrated management system)
  • Strong planning and organisation skills and proven experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team
  • An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
