DEFENCE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT - OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE MANAGER
Support a significant maintenance contract to deliver Australian Defence Force Capability
Maintenance services provided by Joint Logistics Command play an important role in supporting Australian Defence Force units preparing for and returning from operations and exercises. Our services will help ensure the availability and safe working order of Defence assets.
The contract includes repair and maintenance of some of Australia's newest and most advanced equipment including surveillance systems, marine craft, light armoured vehicles, and protected mobility vehicles. It also includes operation of a 24/7 nationwide vehicle and equipment recovery service.
Purpose of this role:
Leading the coordination and integration of the national JLU (Joint Logistics Unit) network with a focus on driving Defence outcomes through collaboration, continuous improvement and safety.
Managing delivery outcomes for the contract via four key focus areas.

- Strategic Asset Planning and Quality Assurance
- Data Analytics
Support the dedicated Regional Managers in achieving strategic performance outcomes through capability, innovation, and efficiency.
Working with internal and external stakeholders to support and remove the barriers assovciated with execution of the regional plan. Act as the primary interface with Defence planning specialists.
Location: Cremorne, Melbourne, Victoria.

Key selection criteria
- Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in the areas of Engineering or project management
- Demonstrated experience using data and risk analysis to support evidence-based decision making.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to solutions across a complex contract environment.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching a team, including cultivating diverse and socially inclusive teams.
- Demonstrated ability to be agile, work flexibly and adapt to continuous change, within a small team, in a complex work environment.
- The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.

Primary Accountabilities
- Deliver a standardised service for Defence Material via the JLU (Joint Logistics Unit) network.
- Oversee the delivery of compliance requirement and performance reporting.
- Provide Regions visibility of status of performance reporting.
- Ensure Engineering deliverables and compliance.
- Foster and facilitate collaboration in the planning and management of DMC within the JLUs and HQSCB
- Identify opportunities and recommend efficiencies and value for money.
- Monitor the DMC network and target opportunities for optimisation and/or risk mitigation.
- Support the National Vehicle Recovery team NVR within the Ventia Helpdesk
- Point of escalation for issue investigation and resolution
- Support the Regional Managers in their formation of maintenance personnel.
- Oversee the workforce capability plan.
