Ventia’s Roads Operations - Motorways and Tunnels team has an opportunity for an Environmental Advisor. This role will deliver a range of strategies and identify tactics to manage and improve environmental compliance and management.

About the role
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, the Environmental Advisor is responsible for ensuring that the NSW Motorways and Tunnels Assets are safe for use at all times and that inconvenience to motorists is kept to a minimum through sound planning, monitoring and management of environment and quality aspects for all Ventia maintenance activities.
The role will manage environment, training and quality assurance side of the project and coordinate work systems to ensure that the services delivered to client meet the highest quality standards outline in the project Maintenance Agreement.
The role will include periodic shift work and cross functional support for other adjacent company managed assets.
Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Co-ordinate and deliver elements of Environmental Management Programs including preparation of environmental reports and management of environmental initiatives
- Manage information and report on specific projects; achievements against targets; and new initiatives
- Identify and implement environmental improvement initiatives
- Own and maintain client relationships
- Ongoing maintenance of the Maintenance Environmental Management Plan and the Sustainability Management Plan
- Prepare and review site specific environmental management documentation, such as WEMP’s, Operating procedures & work method statements
- Coach and advise team members on setting Environment & Sustainability objectives and KPIs, as well as identifying and mitigating environmental risks
- Plan and carry out regular Environment & Sustainability inspections & audits
- Facilitate Environment & Sustainability incident reporting and investigations
- Coordinate environmental impact assessment approvals and other environmental permits and licenses

About you
- Diploma qualification in Systems Environmental/ Safety / Quality or related field
- Lead Auditor qualification in one or more of Quality, Safety & Health and/or environmental disciplines
- ICAM Trained Lead Investigator an advantage
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical, negotiation and relationship skills
- Knowledge of environmental legislation
- Knowledge of quality standards and auditing requirements
- Computer skills in company's current software, spreadsheet database and e-mail
- Ability to develop and facilitate task training or skills to suit specific project activities
- Knowledge of maintaining accredited management systems
