About the role
Ventia currently have an opportunity for an experienced marine professional to join our team as Floating Dock Operator. Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, this role is based within the Australian Marine Complex Common User Facility (AMC CUF) in Henderson.
The AMC CUF is a multi-industry, multi-user industrial facility serviced by a deep-water port, a Floating Dock and self-propelled modular transports (SPMT), specialised load out wharves, extensive laydown and assembly areas and several large fabrication halls. Ventia provides Business Development and Marketing Services, Asset Management Services, Facility Management Services and Operator Services.

Your Career Opportunity
You will be placed into our Operations Team. Leveraging your existing technical and marine experience, you will undertake a specialised development program which will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive.
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Operating the Floating Dock during the docking and undocking under the direction of the Dockmaster
- Overseeing SPMT operations and assist in the development, review and implementation of SPMT operational procedures
- Manage shipping at the common user facility berths and jetty and coordinate all bookings with users and shipping agents and liaison with Freemantle Ports Authority
- Maintain the Floating Dock and SPMT’s in a safe and operational condition together with our specialist subcontractors
- Assist in the development, review and implementation of improved operational procedures and monitor our facilities and assets to ensure full regulatory and contract compliance
We are looking for people with the following skills and attributes:
- Minimum 3 years as a Marine Engineer Class 3 or equivalent marine/naval maintenance experience
- Control room/systems experience and exposure
- Experience issuing permits to work
- Experience of using an electronic maintenance management program. SAP an advantage
- Knowledge of safety and environmental control
- Ability to work independently, safely and as part of a multi-skilled team
- Ability to build effective relationships with customers and subcontractors
- Physically able to access all locations on the Floating Dock including confined spaces e.g. ballast tanks
- Courteous, polite and well presented in the workplace environment
- Able to work effectively under pressure
