This position involves statutory inspection, testing, fault finding and preventative maintenance of fire systems in accordance with AS1851. These include fire alarm systems, detection systems, evacuation systems, emergency lighting.

To be a successful Candidate for this role it is preferred you have:

• Relevant Electrical trade qualifications
• C class NSW drivers Licence

The following will be highly desirable:

• Practical experience as a Fire Systems Technician
• Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence (entitlement 2 or 3) or willing to obtain
• Inspect & Testing FPAS License or willing to obtain
• Confined Space
• EWP and Working at Heights
• Primary Responsibilities, but not limited to:
• Conduct Maintenance work in accordance with work management procedures and job plans
• Maintain productivity to meet job goals.
• Actively reinforce, promote and improve the Contract culture.
• Contribute to the development or improvement of procedures as required to execute work in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
• Ensure that the product / service provided meets the customer schedule / order / agreement requirements.
• Identify, report and initiate (or recommend) possible solutions to problems in processes or systems.
• Actively participate in and promote the “Right First Time” quality philosophy.
• Setting and implementation of high standards.
• Actively participate in the continuous improvement process. (Changes that could reduce cost, increase productivity or improve quality are actively encouraged).

For more than 20 years, Ventia has had a longstanding relationship with BlueScope in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, providing plant maintenance, engineering and project services and a skilled workforce for numerous BlueScope projects, as well as fabrication facilities. We have recently renewed our contract with BlueScope for maintenance services with the addition of Fire Services at BlueScope’s Port Kembla Steel Works.
