Ventia in partnership with the Australian Defence Force is currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to manage the performance of the delivery of maintenance, repair, and project services to Defence equipment on its new Defence Maintenance Contract including vehicles, plant equipment and armoury.
Based at Palmer Barracks in Guildford, WA this fulltime permanent position will see you oversee day to day activities of the region to ensure smooth operation and contract performance objectives are achieved.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Financial Control including working to strict monthly budgets, recommending maintenance improvements in productivity and/or cost and collecting and sharing cost information as appropriate/ requested.
- Collaboratively working with the Client to develop and maintain a healthy, trusted relationship with a focus on adding value to the Client’s business.
- Interfacing with the Client by participating in relevant meetings, developing agreed expectations ensuring they are met or exceeded.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives to deliver improvements in safety, quality and productivity.
- Training & Development of your team ensuring behaviours and capability gaps are identified and development plans in place to bridge gaps.
- Supporting and Implementing Change initiatives in the business on a functional level by removing potential obstacles and openly supporting the changes.
- Ensuring that business risks are identified and appropriately mitigated through policies, processes, and controls.
- Achieving best practice, safety, and quality standards.
About You:
- Substantial experience in managing large workshops as well as Interaction with technical staff, subcontractors, senior Military Officers, and Client representatives.
- Knowledge of defence roles, functions, and organisation. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management is advantageous.
- Fluent written and verbal English skills. Able to speak in public with clarity and confidence as well as alter presentation style to suit variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated time management skills, project management skills, presentation skills, report writing skills, multi-tasking skills, risk analysis and management skills.
- Familiar with and demonstrated adherence to the Health and Safety practices of the client and Ventia.
- Demonstrated ability, willingness, and commitment to be multi-skilled and up skilled.
- Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Trade qualification is advantageous.
- Minimum intermediate level in the use of MS Office applications (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
You must be an Australian citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance.

About the project
Defence Maintenance Contract - Maintenance services provided by Joint Logistics Command play a significant role in supporting Australian Defence Force units preparing for and returning from operations and exercises. Our services will help ensure the availability and safe working order of Defence assets.
The contract includes repair and maintenance of some of Australia's newest and most advanced equipment including surveillance systems, marine craft, light armoured vehicles, and protected mobility vehicles. It also includes operation of a 24/7 nationwide vehicle and equipment recovery service.
