Our Opportunity
Fixed Term up to 28 May 2027 (Parental Leave)
The Principal Solicitor will provide strategic legal advice and written briefings to the Commission, Directors and staff on gambling matters relating to investigations, disciplinary and litigation matters under the legislative, regulatory and policy framework for gambling regulation in Victoria. This position will lead the conduct of prosecutions undertaken by the Commission including contested litigation and will appear on behalf of the Commission at VCAT, The Magistrates Court and other jurisdictions as required.
To be successful in this position you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and admission or eligibility for admission to practice as a Barrister/Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the right to hold a Victorian legal practising certificate.
- Sound experience in the conduct and/or management of multiple contested litigation in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing the exercise of delegated decision-making powers in an administrative decision-making context and in criminal court proceedings.
- Experience advising on litigation and prosecution.
