About the role
In this role, you will form a key part of a close-knit team responsible for the overall safety, operation and maintenance of Devonport Terminal, including ship receipt, pipeline transfers, bulk storage, gantry loading operations. Under the guidance of the Terminal Manager, you will be trained in the operation and maintenance of terminal equipment and responsible for ensuring the safe handling and storage of fuel products and quality control. Collaboration and communication among the team will be essential to the success of the operation and in order to resolve any operational issues and ensure process is followed.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Shipping activities, from setup of equipment, safety conferences, discharges, testing, work task monitoring and logging, product quality controls; bunkering activities when required
- Monitoring, sampling & testing of fuel and fuelling equipment (incl shipping, storage tanks)
- Provide safe access to plant and equipment via work clearances, gas testing, permitting and isolations
- Asset management including completion of surveillance and inspections, managing preventative, follow-on and reactive work orders, using JDE maintenance management system, in accordance with applicable regulations, standards and codes of practice
- Providing oversight on maintenance and project work, including management of contractors, and involvement in transition from operating to project/maintenance
- Basic housekeeping duties in relation to operational areas, and work area/site
- Ad hoc audits and interaction with drivers and their fleet vehicles for compliance and safe operations.
- Participate in HSSE assurance activities, audits, emergency response, work insights.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for people who can demonstrate a passion for safety and have the confidence to speak up when something isn’t right. You care about people and want to be part of a tight knit team, are dependable, detail-oriented and can apply innovative problem-solving skills. You are able to demonstrate a curiosity about operations or technology and have a proud track record in delivering on your promises. You may have a trade background or experience in an operational or manufacturing environment. To be successful in this role you will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, good communication skills with a positive and flexible attitude. You will demonstrate commitment to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) and the desire to work and contribute to a high-performing team. Previous experience in fuel terminal operations, bulk fuel ship discharges, ship bunkering operations, and/or road tanker loading facilities and associated control mechanisms may be an advantage.
