The Cyber Security Analyst will be required to play a vital role in keeping V/Line’s proprietary and sensitive information secure. This will be done by supporting day to day cyber security activities, monitoring, assessing and responding to security threats and contributing to an improved cyber security posture and improved cyber security maturity.
About the role
V/Line has entered an exciting phase of growth and technical evolution. The Cyber Security Analyst will be a critical part of this journey through supporting the implementation and delivery of approved security controls and related information inclusive of incident response and disaster recovery plans, best practices, and policies to remediate security threats.
- Working with AWS Secure Hub and Control Tower and vulnerabilities
- Perform security assessments through coordination of vulnerability testing and risk analysis of technologies, applications and third-party service providers
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure systems are up-to-date, patched, secure and compliant with the organisation’s currently defined security standards
- In the event of a security breach, lead efforts to counter the attack, manage the negative effects, minimise the impact and altering security controls for future prevention
- Maintain up to date knowledge of new cyber threats and their potential impact, and the latest trends in cyber security
- Investigate potential breaches and other security incidents, including post incident analysis
About you
Essential tertiary qualifications in computer science, cyber security, computer/electronic engineering, or a technology-related field are a requirement of this position. You will have a substantial background in Cyber Security within the Public sector or a similar field.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- The ability to assist with the creation and maintenance of operational systems’ Protective Data Security Plans (PDSP), Security Strategy and associated roadmaps (essential)
- Professional security management certification, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or other similar credentials (desirable)
- Experience working with AWS Secure Hub and Control Tower (desirable)
- Proven high level strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills in a enterprise environment
- Experience with a variety of Cyber Security software and technologies
- Strong understanding of Cyber Security Governance Risk and Compliance

The successful applicant will be paid under the V/Line Operations & Administration Agreement 2019.
