        About the role

        The Safety, Sustainability & Risk (SSR) team is focused on planning for the future - delivering projects

        that will shape regional rail and V/Line in the years to come.

        As part of a close knit team, reporting the Risk Engineer, the Senior Advisor takes a lead role in championing risk management, establishing appropriate processes within Safety, Sustainability & Risk to manage enterprise risk as well as provide support and guidance on project related risk throughout its lifecycle.

        Key Accountabilities include:

          Responsible for ensuring that the SSR team manage their risks in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Safety, Sustainability and Risk Management Process.

            Leading and inspiring senior managers and staff to influence positive risk culture within the complex and cross-functional team environment.

              Alignment of SSR risk management program with V/Line’s statutory obligations.

                Manage SSR risks considering the impact to V/Line’s risk profile through the lifecycle of the change.

                  Ensure all open risk assessments are tracked and provide assurance that the treatments are implemented.

                    Plan, monitor and advise on the execution of risk assessments and reviews with an annual Risk Management Program within each area of the SSR business

                      Deliver/Support training for Risk Management to build the capability in SSR to undertake effective risk assessments, to improve risk maturity and capability.

                      About you

                      To be successful in this role, you will ideally have an understanding of risk in the rail environment or a similar high-risk industry, a willingness to learn, the ability to engage and influence your stakeholders along with the following skills and experience;

                        Demonstrable risk management experience and embedding risk culture in an organisation

                          Ability to develop and deliver effective, informative training

                            Experience establishing a robust process of monitoring risk treatments

                              Knowledge of ISO 31000- Risk Management Principles

                                A relevant Degree qualification in engineering, science, communications, business, commerce or finance is desirable but not essential
