You will interact closely with the Senior Advisor – Investigations, Engineer – Risk, and the wider Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team to identify the critical lessons learnt and risk controls that require audit and verification.

You are also responsible for organising resources to complete audits, including Senior Advisor Audits, Advisor - Audits, Advisor – HSE, other HSE staff, and external service providers.

There’s also the requirement to be on call outside normal business hours and attend incident sites and travel within Victoria or interstate, including overnight stays.

  • Identify and prepare an audit schedule that provides a layer of assurance across V/Lines operations.
  • Develop an annual fixed audit schedule, and accommodate short notice, ad hoc requests to verify compliance and/or identify gaps.
  • Make sure audits are structured to identify and address operational risk and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Lead large, complex audits looking at both systems and engineering elements.
  • Provide detailed audit reports to an acceptable standard suitable for presentation to the Board.
  • Monitor the overall progress of action closure.
  • Ensure audit findings are used by the business to close gaps and improve performance.

You must be able to lead the auditing team, offer & encourage ideas & innovation, and champion continuous improvement.

It is essential that you hold a qualification in Occupational or Work Health & Safety (OHS, WHS), from Certificate IV to Advanced Diploma level.
