About the role
Reporting to the Technical Systems Manager, could you be our next Data Network Specialist?This is an exciting unique opportunity to be a part of a niche area.The role is highly technical with ability to learn and develop in all aspects of the Network including infrastructure, signalling and operations.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Developing a comprehensive strategy for the OT data network, which aligns with cyber security, reliability and expansion strategies.
- Monitor, review and endorse data network architecture and designs for transition into operation service.
- Ensure stable operation of V/Lines critical data communications network
- Monitoring network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability
About you
You will need to be qualified in one or more of the following industry recognised Network certifications(s):
- CompTIA – Network
- Cisco-CCNA/CCNP/CCIE
- SANS Institute – GIAC
A diploma or equivalent is a requirement on one or more of the following disciplines:
- Information technology and Networking
- Information technology and networking
- Computer Networking
- Computer systems and networks
A degree in one of the following disciplines would be highly desirable but not essential:
- Computer Science
- Bachelor of Engineering (Hon Computer and Network Engineering)
- Computer Systems and Networks
- Bachelor of Technology
- Network Security Management
In addition to this, you will demonstrate:
- Alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
- Experience within Train Control Systems and Signalling Communication Infrastructure (desirable)
- High level strategic thinking, analytical and problem solving skills in an industrial environment
- Excellent attention to detail and good communication skills
- Considerable experience working with internal business customers in managing and supporting a Data Network

What we can offer
The successful applicant will be paid circa $100,000 inclusive of superannuation and leave loading, and is negotiable based on experience, in line with the V/LINE Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019.
The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police) check and medical check.
