Ganger (Class 1) Night Shift

Reporting to Track Maintenance Supervisor, could you be our next Ganger Class 1?
The Ganger (Class 1) is responsible to supervise the performance and ensure the track maintenance tasks are completed to continue the functionality and high performance of the V/Line service.
About the role:
- This is a permanent night shift opportunity. Hours of work are:
- Sunday to Thursday - 10pm to 6am. (With overtime when required)
- You are entitled to an RDO every second Thursday.
- This position works VLine’s central lines - CBD to Caroline springs & manor junction including the freight lines into the city.
- 5 weeks of annual leave.
- The Ganger Class 1 role has become available due to an internal move, V/Line look to educate, and develop their people to grow within the organisation.
Duties:
- Manage and participate in renewal or maintenance work of rail infrastructure
- Maintain proper maintenance of the allotted length of track
- Inspect and monitor track conditions
- Manage a team fostering inclusive working relationships
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OH&S standards and regulations
About you
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
- Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure or basic Way Maintenance course (Ganger’s course)
- Hold a current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Safe Working Certificates including Track Force Protection Coordinator and TVO2 (Road rail vehicle operator)
- Ability to lead and support a team
- Always adhere to a safe working culture
The salary for this position will be paid in accordance with the current V/Line Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019 IMW (TRACK) 2.4 at $44.9047 per hour + Night shift loading.
The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police) check and medical check.
