Our Network Engineering Division is seeking a Train Control and Radio Systems Engineer to provide technical and engineering expertise in the field of train signal control and radio infrastructure.
This role will report to Engineer Manager – OCS and is responsible for providing a safe workplace for staff where risks are managed, and a safe environment is maintained for customers and visitors.
With your background in the Signal Engineering discipline and your knowledge of control system and communication technologies with focus on rail applications, this role could be the perfect career opportunity.
About the role
You’ll be the point of reference for technical and engineering development, and support for train control and radio systems. You will interface with project delivery, network maintenance, train operations and rail safety to ensure that train control and radio assets appropriately support V/Line network requirements.
Key accountabilities include:
Ensuring the Train Control Systems and Radio Systems are correctly designed, selected, and installed based on a life-cycle philosophy, and ensuring the interface meets Train Control Systems to Signalling Systems requirements.
Providing technical and engineering expertise for the investigation and analysis of Train Control Systems and Radio Systems issues as they arise.
Representing V/Line at forums, industry groups or other stakeholder meetings that focus on matters relating to Train Control Systems and Radio Systems.
Assisting with the development of the Network Development and Maintenance safety management systems, and ensuring that information in, and changes to, the safety management system are adequately notified to the staff involved.
Implementing and monitoring effective signals and communications infrastructure maintenance policies, programs, procedures and processes to enable safety and reliability standards to be consistently achieved.
The ideal candidate possesses:
Degree of equivalent qualifications in Engineering, Electrical / Electronic /Computer Science
Sound knowledge of control system and communication technologies with focus on rail applications
Ability to analyse, evaluate and decide on data and provide suitable recommendations
Relevant experience in the Signal Engineering discipline appropriate for Victorian Engineering registration, and Associate Membership of the Institution of Railway Signalling Engineers
