About the role
As the Senior Media Adviser, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Strategic Communications function.
You will prepare media and communication materials and activities that assist with managing V/Line’s reputation.
The role demonstrates sound writing skills, and is responsible for preparing media responses, media releases and other proactive media opportunities, initiatives and events.
The role will see you:
- Prepare media and communications that deliver accurate, timely and consistent information, with close attention to detail in all forms of communications.
- Monitor the internal and external environment to help identify potential opportunities, issues and risks for the organisation.
- Assist in ensuring direct managers and others, as appropriate, are kept updated on relevant media and communications issues, incidents, opportunities, initiatives and events.
- Assist with briefing spokespeople prior to media engagements.
- Work in close consultation with key internal and external stakeholders, including government departments and agencies.
- Assist and support media materials and events with project authorities, which interface with the V/Line network.
- Work closely with other public transport operators and rail corporations on media-related matters.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will come with substantial experience in media, communications and/or public relations roles.
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to build rapport quickly with your team and key stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills, with an ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, and is detail orientated.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with different target audiences, and translate complex and technical information into accessible public information.
- Experience working with government and political awareness is an advantage.
