Sitting in the Safety, Sustainability and Risk group, this role reports to the Senior Advisor - Audits and will be responsible for effectively facilitating and conducting Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) related audits under O/WHS, Rail Safety and Heavy Vehicle National law and related HSEQ standards.
You will ensure that the principles of auditing outlined in AS/NZS ISO 19011:2018 Guidelines for OHS, quality and environmental management systems auditing are always complied with.
About the role
Working as an Adviser - Audits, you will support providing a safe workplace where risks are identified, understood, and managed. Ensuring a safe environment for customers and visitors is maintained.
Additionally, in this role you will be responsible for:
- Facilitating and conducting HSE management system audits
- Ensuring audits are structured to identify and assess risks/controls and ensure legislative compliance
- Reporting to V/Line Management and highlighting specific details of any significant audit findings, risks, trends or emerging conditions
- Reviewing stakeholder action plans to ensure the health, safety, security, quality and environmental deficiencies identified are addressed
- Providing written and verbal reports to stakeholders as required
- Completing audit reports according to specific requirements ensuring a clear, thorough and concise conclusion is provided in a timely manner
- Facilitating and planning external audits or inspections with relevant stakeholders (ONRSR, certification bodies, Coach Operators, etc)
- Updating the supporting systems to ensure transparent tracking and reporting of the resultant action plans
- Regional travel to perform onsite audits, as required, with occasional overnight stays (pool car provided)
The remuneration range for this position will be between Clerk C2 ($84,681.85) – SNR OFF D03 ($121,506.18) plus leave loading, superannuation & free myki travel, in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019.
About you
You will bring with you the ability to identify gaps in business systems, evaluate the effectiveness of risk controls and apply mitigation strategies along with the understanding of compliance requirements (including but not limited to: Rail Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality).
You also bring very strong stakeholder management skills, partnered with the ability to build relationships and work within a team, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
In addition to this, you will bring:
- Qualifications in Auditing Management Systems; Quality, OH&S or Environment (essential)(i.e,. Lead Auditor training or Diploma in Quality Auditing)
- Demonstrated experience in Auditing Management Systems
- Proactivity and commitment to articulating issues, improving processes, and providing solutions
- The ability to produce a range of reports according to specific audit requirements ensuring a clear, thorough and concise conclusion is provided
- Experience in risk management and investigations (desirable)
