About the role
This is a great development opportunity to bring your existing planning skills and contribute towards meeting operations requirements and special events.
In this role you will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, and robust schedules for replacement coaches, passenger trains, freight trains, and heritage trains that meet the requirements of third party operators, special events obligations and track occupations; and all the associated activities required to operationalise these schedules and communicate them to the wider business.
Key Accountabilities include:
Create and update short-term train templates in appropriate operational systems (Train Plan, FORT, RADEC, TrackR), including the planning for altered schedules (special events, public holidays, occupations etc).
Plan the short-term fleet rotations of V/Lines locomotives, Sprinters, V/Locities and carriages to meet the requirements of the published timetable and maintenance rosters.
Access and maintain extensive information regarding V/Line rolling stock, network, and operating environment.
Create train paths in operational systems for changed NSP and ad hoc freight services and associated planning liaison activities and also for Heritage trains & for operational train moves and track inspection machinery.
Create and update the Coach Service Plan templates for all corridors including ‘zig zags’ and compliance with the Heavy Vehicle National Law regulations.
Prepare the documentation for the publication of new train and coach timetables and the distribution of material around the business
About you
To be successful in this role you will have the ability to work under pressure with attention to detail, and you will enjoy working as part of a team but also independently.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
Exposure to Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to consult and collaborate to directly provide accurate information, professional advice and timely response to issues.
Experience in planning or transport planning is preferred.
Year 12 is highly desirable or relevant work experience.
