About the role
As the Competency Specialist - Track, Civil and Structures, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s People and Integrity Group.
The role is responsible for the development and delivery of best practice training content and material in Certificate III in Railway Structures.
The competency team plays a critical part in ensuring our V/Line employees and contractors are trained and competent to safely perform their roles and comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements, under rail safety law.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Developing and delivering training, coaching and mentoring to track, civil and structures staff
- Continuously improving and customising AQTF-compliant assessment and training resources to support teaching programs and address competency gaps
- Provide ongoing support to the RTO and L&C Co-ordinator to ensure accreditation, licenses and qualifications are maintained for all staff
- Serving as a Subject Manager Expert for the development of industry programs and qualifications, representing the Senior Competency Specialist on industry committees as required
- Travelling to regional centres (eg. Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong, Warragul) to conduct on-site training
The successful candidate will have the flexibility to be based from our major regional locations, in addition to our CBD office.
About you
You have a passion for rail and an intimate knowledge of the V/Line structures, track maintenance and construction. You are driven, organised and enjoy taking ownership of your schedule.
In addition to this, our ideal candidate will also possess the following:
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with presentation experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the AQF qualifications and levels
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building expertise
- Desirable Qualifications Include:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
- Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure
- Certificate III in Rail Structures
- Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure
