About the role
As a Senior Structures Engineer within the V/Line Network Development and Asset Maintenance (NDAM) Group, you will play a vital role in providing safe and reliable transport for Victoria.
Due to demand, a 1 year fixed-term position (with potential on-going opportunities) has opened up in the structures space. Reporting to the Principal Engineer - Structures you will be working within a collaborative small team where you will have the unique opportunity to provide engineering and technical development, calculations, evaluation and advice for V/line assets management team and other stakeholders.
This role will support the maintenance of existing assets as well as influence the development of new capability to ensuring V/Line meet performance and safety requirements which includes developing design solutions to structural issues.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Achieve the V/Line Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP) schedule of inspections.
- Perform load rating and strengthening design for bridges and other structures. Ensure the Bridge network load ratings are updated.
- Ensure the sections of the TMP under the control of the position are up to date, accounting for change in responsibilities for sections of the network, and addition structures.
- Ensure identified projects, task, and issues are appropriately managed to completion.
- Review derogations against standards for technical suitability, reliability, maintainability, and safety
An attractive salary will be paid inclusive of superannuation, including an on-site vehicle to be used for work, free myki travel, continuous learning, and development opportunities. Starting salaries for this position will commence at $145,000 and increase based on level of experience and skill level.
About you
The desired candidate will preferably come from the rail industry with experience in structures or another infrastructure industry who wants work as part of an inclusive, collaborative and friendly team, working together to meet desired outcomes as well as interfacing with other areas of the business.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a civil / structural engineering discipline suitable for registration as a Structural Engineer under the professional Engineers Registration Act 2019
- Excellent internal and external stakeholder management
- Demonstrate good leadership skills.
- Demonstrate a good technical ability.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent both written and verbal communication
