About the role
As the Senior Infrastructure Specialist Signalling you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development and Asset Maintenance Group.
- Report directly to the Maintenance Engineering Manager.
- Utilise technical expertise to enhance operational outcomes.
- Engage in in-depth analysis to innovate and improve processes.
- Specialise in rail signalling technology and maintenance practices.
- Ensure the safety and reliability of V/Line's signalling infrastructure.
- Uphold maintenance obligations with a commitment to quality and consistency.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Identify, analyse and find solutions to faults and failures of in-service equipment in a complex environment.
- Responsible for the repairs of faulty equipment.
- Actively involved in the development of Annual and Multi year Works Programs, update Technical Maintenance Plans, Operation Standards, Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Assist in the development of training and competency requirements for Signalling Maintenance Technicians.
- Investigate asset failures, develop improvement plans and mange timely implementation.
- Regular contact with internal and external parties as required to investigate, influence, plan or expedite works, including occupation and other operational/works planning meetings.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert Advice from technical perspective guiding front line maintenance teams during troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Mentor and coach signalling supervisors to foster their professional development and enhance their technical competencies and adopting industry best practices.
Essential role requirements
- Required qualification: Diploma in Railway Signalling or higher.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years in railway signalling design, installation, and maintenance.
- Senior Role: Proven track record (minimum 5 years) in a senior signalling position, focusing on track construction and maintenance.
- Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and maintenance skills for signalling equipment and systems.
- Adaptability: Capable of working in dynamic environments and collaborating to meet business goals.
- Predictive Maintenance: Knowledgeable in developing and applying predictive maintenance strategies for signalling systems.
- Emphasis on innovation and technical skill application
- Importance of building strong, influential relationships
- Need for adaptability to new technologies and methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial
- Focus on continuous improvement and risk mitigation in maintenance operations
