As a Staff Consulting Architect, you acquire intimate knowledge of the customers’ business, its strategic goals and the specific requirements of our largest enterprise and global projects. You will be demonstrating the technical abilities of the consulting team you lead and drive a solution that assists the customer in achieving their business goals and outcomes. You are a solution level subject matter expert with broad knowledge across network infrastructure, integrating with VMware technology and 3rd party products.
As a Technical Leader for customer facing delivery, Staff Consulting Architects also provide key input to pre-sales on complex multi-discipline bids and drive best practices.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
- You will take ownership of business outcomes of projects, lead technical project teams, and take accountability for all project deliverables.
- Strategically plan with sales, pre-sales, and the customer to build out a delivery roadmap.
- Vision new services and requirements and be a trusted advisor to technical decision makers and key project stakeholders on your projects.
- Define and present a transformational journey to senior project stakeholders.
- Work with project manager on project budget, resource planning and all aspects of efficient delivery.
- Confidently gather use case requirements and creation of high-level enterprise designs while functioning as a resource for “Best Practices” and driving adoption of VMware solutions.
- Ensure the solution being delivered is fit for purpose, referencing the initial business goals and objectives of the project through strong project governance.
- Maintain current, high-level technical knowledge of the entire VMware product line and future product direction and expert level knowledge of the core VMware product line and your specialist area.
- Actively demonstrate commercial awareness and stay within the scope of the contracted work.
- Assist in the development of our consulting service offerings as well as developing white papers and best practices.

Practice Specific Responsibilities – Networking/Telco
- Develop technical capabilities of local delivery teams through community meetups and training development.
- Support consultants in delivery of Networking/Telco projects across the region using technical and delivery expertise.
- Connect with local and regional sales teams to support sales development and capture delivery requirements.
- Engage with VMware’s Networking/Telco product development teams to represent customer perspectives and improve product capabilities.
- Consult with 3rd party vendors on behalf of customers to capture requirements and develop solutions that demonstrate VMware’s capabilities.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
- You will be providing Solution level expertise in network infrastructure for enterprise or service provider environments.
- This role is a customer-facing position as a Professional Services architect or consultant.
- You will be creating excellent documentation and technical writing (reports etc)
- On a daily basis you will be communicating complex technical topics to a technical and non-technical audience.
- You will use your excellent communications and interpersonal skills, to utilise different styles of questioning techniques and manage conflict to achieve a resolution.
- Software Defined Networking (SDN) solution design and delivery.
- Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVi) solution design and delivery.
- Working with VMware’s NFVi solution components including vCloud Director or NSX-T.
- Kubernetes infrastructure admin certification (CKA)
- Openstack design, deployment, and administration.
- A broad range of vSphere or vRealize design experience in medium to large environments.
- Project governance and familiarity with PRINCE2 or PMP frameworks.
- Enterprise Architecture knowledge and familiarity with or certification in TOGAF framework.
- Practical knowledge of the ITIL service management framework.
- Presenting at a user group, trade show or similar is highly desirable.
- VCDX, CCIE or equivalent expert level certification.

Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable commute of the office.
