About the role

Our Assets Planning and Delivery Group has an opportunity for a Principal, Strategic Programs who will partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver asset related strategic projects for the Organisation. This role will add value and contribute to the success of the future of Water Corporation.

What the role will offer

  • Identify strategic land acquisition requirements in partnership with relevant Program Managers across all services
  • Represent the Corporation in consultation and negotiations with Government Agencies, Local Authorities, Water Services Association of Australia, consultants, developers and stakeholders.
  • Advise on land related requirements for various asset types, including the coordination of more detailed advice through Engineering business units
  • Coordinate with the Environment business unit to identify strategic land acquisition opportunities for environmental offsets
  • Develop and maintain a strategic land acquisition register that identifies all land requirements, priorities, status of investigations and acquisition process
  • Prepare business cases to facilitate funding approvals for land acquisition
  • Provide project management support for the appointment of external resources to complete investigations (engineering, flora and fauna, contaminated site, geotech etc) as required
  • Identify opportunities to acquire available land that may be of strategic value to the Corporation’s business
  • Assist planners with the definition of land requirements
  • Attend/facilitates meetings to discuss progress on strategic land acquisition
  • Track and report progress on strategic land acquisition for advice to Executive and Program Managers

Key skills and experience

  • Degree level qualified in an engineering field or similar
  • Planning experience with water infrastructure and identifying opportunities in land acquisition desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Past experience managing external resources
  • Strong negotiation skills
