3882 Stakeholders & External Policy - Team leader

  • Thrive in a dynamic role as you shape WA’s water future.
  • Full-time, fixed-term position until 2 June 2027, based in Leederville, with flexible working options.
  • Salary: $155,648 plus 12% Super and Benefits.

About the role

In this role you’ll be responsible to lead a stakeholder engagement and external policy team in the provision of high-level advice and oversight. This includes developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies and plans for major Water Corporation projects, coordination of stakeholder engagement activities for incidents, issues and initiatives, coordination of external policy matters and supports Water Corporation’s corporate goals through delivery of a robust Corporate Stakeholder Engagement Framework.

What you can expect with this role

  • Develops and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels of respective organisations, to facilitate information-sharing and collaboration of messaging for key projects and programs.
  • Responsible for coordination of external communications activities pertaining to Corporate Stakeholders across various business units.
  • Responsible for oversight of the corporate stakeholder framework and policy.
  • Develops backgrounders and briefs for senior leaders and project managers on confidential stakeholder engagement and policy issues.
  • Coordinates horizon scanning of external policy matters impacting the Corporation, including policy development, government strategies, legislation, regulatory discussion/issues papers etc.
  • Contribute to building and supporting an effective team, with a strong focus on communication, a commitment to continuous improvement, while achieving set objectives.


Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • Degree level qualification in political science, communications, public relations or other relevant discipline, and/or experience within Policy and Communications.
  • Government experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Substantial experience developing and implementing effective policy development, corporate communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans in a large and complex organisation
  • Considerable experience in stakeholder engagement and management initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by an ability to consistently produce clear and compelling information.
  • Experience successfully leading a small team to deliver upon corporate objectives.
