What you’ll do:

As a Source Water Protection Manager, you will lead a newly formed multi-disciplinary team to provide source water protection programs including managing incentives and compliance programs, and assessment of mining impacts risks on WaterNSW land and assets, whilst driving excellence in safety.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading WaterNSW’s Compliance program to support behaviour change and ensure appropriate regulatory action is taken to protect Source Water.
  • Developing and implementing the WaterNSW Source Water Protection Strategy ensuring effective investment across all aspects of the strategy, including the coordination of projects, budgets, policies and procedures.
  • Leading cooperative senior relationships with relevant state and local government agencies, industry and Non-Government Organisations to ensure the delivery of incentive programs and to leverage WaterNSW interests.
  • Providing expert advice on mining related proposals including State significant developments to influence decisions made by planning and consent authorities under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 to help minimise risk to water quality, water quantity, water supply infrastructure and catchment health.
  • Ensuring processes and procedures are developed and maintained to meet WaterNSW requirements under the Contaminated Land Management Act, including working with other parts of the business to manage and remediate contaminated lands where required.


What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Planning/Science/Assessment/Management, Natural Resource Management, Planning, or other relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements in which Water NSW operates (e.g. Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997)
  • Experience in water quality impact assessment and management
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively, building and managing constructive professional relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
