Senior Environmental and Land Access Compliance Specialist – Perth CBD - Two-year Maximum Term

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental and Land Access Compliance Specialist at our Perth Office on a two-year maximum-term basis, providing field-based assurance across Clean Energy Link construction activities.

While this recruitment process is focused on our immediate maximum-term opportunity, we also anticipate potential future permanent opportunities within this area. We welcome applications from candidates interested in either the current maximum-term role, future permanent opportunities, or both.

In this role, you will work closely with the Social Performance and Approvals function, project delivery team and contractors to ensure environmental approval conditions, management requirements and land access commitments are understood and effectively implemented. You will combine practical onsite experience in major construction or infrastructure projects with strong environmental expertise and a compliance-focused mindset.

Your Role in Action

  • Providing field-based environmental and land access compliance inspections across construction activities

  • Verify that approval conditions, management plans and actions, site controls and Western Power requirements are understood and effectively implemented by contractors

  • Undertaking site inspections and assurance activities, identify and raise emerging risks and drive the timely close-out of corrective actions

  • Establishing effective relationships with contractors by providing practical, risk-based advice on conditions and controls

  • Maintain accurate and traceable inspection records and compliance evidence, ensure detailed and accurate reporting and participate in lessons learned

  • Monitoring trends and provide field feedback to identify systemic issues, improve tools, processes and delivery practices

  • Completion of audits against environmental compliance

This is an opportunity to play an active role in major transmission infrastructure projects, influence how work is delivered in the field and contribute to continual improvement across Western Power’s environmental and land management practice.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Demonstrated experience in environmental compliance and management, experience within linear infrastructure, construction, resources or a comparable environment

  • Experience conducting field inspections, completing assurance and verification activities, including managing corrective actions to closure

  • Experience assessing compliance against environmental approvals, licences, permits, management plans, and legislative requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise, and defensible audit reports.

  • Sound knowledge of environmental approvals, environmental management plans, audit and regulatory reporting in the context of WA legislation

  • Experience using GIS or digital reporting tools to collect evidence

  • The ability to interpret and communicate complex obligations and provide practical, risk-based advice to project delivery teams and contractors

What You'll Need

  • A valid Western Australian Class C drivers’ licence

  • Ability to undertake frequent field work in regional or remote areas

  • A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or other relevant discipline

Experience in utilities or linear infrastructure, as well as contract delivery, contractor performance monitoring or land access compliance, will be highly regarded.
