We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Substation Operations Technician, on a permanent full-time basis.
This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters, the depot offers an excellent on-site café, shuttle bus to-and-from the Cockburn Train Station, end of trip facilities including secure bicycle storage and freshening up rooms. About this role
As the Substation Operations Technician you will be required to provide subject matter expertise to the business for the safe return to service of critical plant operations, particularly in times of emergencies, while ensuring that primary plant continues to operate within specification during normal operation, which often comes under scrutiny of the executive EMT and the regulator AEMO.
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Possess Cert III (ESI Distribution / Transmission Overhead / Power Systems Distribution Cable Jointing) and/or Electrical Trade Certificate, and/or Current WA Electrical Workers License endorsed for Electrical Fitting
- Must have full unrestricted Australian working rights.
- Current Electrical Workers License
- Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
- Extensive and broad technical subject matter expertise within a particular discipline, preferably in the Networks business
- All Western Power Switching Levels including Level 0 (eNAR), LOU, HOU, ZS, TL, TS
- Secondary Access Authorisation
- Hold all appropriate industry licences or certificates of competency especially substation inspection, testing, maintenance and repair
- Extensive and subject matter expertise and knowledge in the following;
- Networks construction, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures
- Standards and regulations applicable to the section and stream specifically primary assets
- Safety policies and procedures, particularly operating field practices and procedures applying to the power system
- Disciplines associated with transmission facilities, including substation, protection, SCADA & communications
- Solid knowledge of scheduling and project management tools and processes
- Engineering standards, regulations and procedures applicable to the Section and Stream
- Strong experience in coordination and technical supervision of others
- Sound knowledge of Secondary systems and isolation procedures
- Extensive technical knowledge of Western Power switching & outage techniques and practices.
- Regulations and procedures applicable to the section and stream
- Proven experience in high level negotiations and conflict resolution
- Resource and Financial Management practices and procedures.
- Project, contract and maintenance management systems and tools
