About the Role:
As the Community Engagement Specialist, you will be at the forefront of implementing best practice engagement strategies for Western Power’s infrastructure projects. Your hands-on approach and strategic planning expertise will be crucial in driving effective communication and fostering relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will play a key role in shaping our community engagement approach, ensuring it aligns with our brand and strategic objectives.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver and implement engagement plans for multiple projects consistent with Western Power’s brand and strategic objectives, which can include:
- developing communications such as social media posts, digital media, project letters, promotional material, media releases, speeches and publications associated with business objectives;
- identifying innovative ways to engage communities, particularly using SMS, online platforms, and digital media, and integrate this into existing processes;
- meeting stakeholders to discuss queries face to face;
- managing Western Power events to commemorate key project milestones; and
- responding to escalated customer complaints.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, particularly Local Government and project partners to ensure their communications activities are strategically aligned with Western Power.
- Positively influence the internal awareness and acceptance of Western Power’s approach to community engagement and act as an internal advocate for community views to influence decision making.
- As required, report on input on all project communications and engagement status, progress against plan, lessons learnt, issues etc. as part of weekly, monthly, quarterly and milestone, progress, and final reporting.
- Enhance and improve Western Power’s relationship and reputation with community stakeholders and work to minimise impacts of our infrastructure projects.
- Develop cross functional relationships and alignment across the business.
- Establish, develop, and maintain valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders including creating and nurturing advocates to support Western Power’s strategic objectives.
- Understand Western Power’s legal and regulatory obligations related to community engagement
What you’ll bring?
Demonstrated experience in communication, community engagement, stakeholder management or a related field
- Experience in the development of communication tools including, but not limited to, reports, promotional material, speeches, and publications associated with business objectives
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills to effectively manage all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise work and critically assess own performance
- Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet strict deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work as part of a team
