Join our team as a Principal Property Specialist. In this role, you will play a critical part in enabling the Clean Energy Link by securing the strategic land required to deliver one of the state’s most significant energy transformation programs.
You will lead complex land identification, negotiation and acquisition activities, and provide high‑level strategic and policy advice that directly influences how major network projects are planned and delivered.
Operating as a senior specialist, you will have autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to solve complex land and tenure challenges that underpin long‑term infrastructure outcomes for WA communities.
Your Role in Action
- Provide appropriate property related market advice that informs decision making on property transactions.
- Undertake financial and commercial analysis, which includes provision of recommendations, that enables informed decision making on property transactions.
- Ensure Western Power’s operational property needs are met while minimising the costs of holding property.
- Manage the expectations of internal and external stakeholders through timely action on property transactions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify suitable strategic land holdings to meet Network Operational requirements.
- Engage with external service providers to determine appropriate compensation values for the acquisition of strategic land holdings or obtaining easements rights.
- Lead the negotiation with property owners to secure the acquisition of strategic land holdings and/or easements.
- Lead the compulsory acquisition process in the event that a commercial agreement to acquire strategic land holdings cannot be secured.
- Undertake market analysis and risk identification and mitigation and present recommendations on property related transactions that enables informed decision making.
- Undertake sensitivity analysis, cost/benefit analysis and option analysis (including preparation of findings and recommendations) on property related transactions to provide informed decision making.
- Prepare high quality Business Cases and Decision Sheets on property related transactions.
- Provide strategic advice on land acquisition and compensation payments, related to the acquisition of strategic land holdings and easements, to internal and external stakeholders.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary qualifications in a property related discipline.
- Extensive and broad experience within a property environment with a strong understanding of property markets, principles, and legislation.
- Significant and demonstrated experience in property analysis and financial evaluation.
- Extensive experience in negotiating commercial transactions with external parties, including leasing arrangements, acquisitions, and disposals.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to undertake multiple activities.
- Ability to manage relationships across the organisation at multiple levels.
