Technical Scheduling Specialist – Permanent – South Metro Depot

The purpose of this position is to prepare, plan and coordinate complex work schedules / design packages within applicable budget and time constraints for project, maintenance and customer design requested distribution project activities.

The position will be responsible for the creation of relevant team/resource execution packages inclusive of work breakdown structures and Gantt charts, to enable the scheduler to schedule all relevant work included in the package via the scheduling tool.

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. With the latest infrastructure and technology, the depot empowers all employees to create that perfect work-life balance whilst operating in an inclusive and diverse workplace.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • To ensure compliance with Western Power and regulatory health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and processes at all time.

  • Creation of daily crew execution and or design packages/ schedule by way of identifying the following relating to the work packages needing to be created:

    • All customer deliverables, including relevant activities such as design required by date (DRD), required in service date (RIS) or maximising on resources to reduce outages switchable section, are actioned in a timely manner;

    • Maximising internal resources based on availability and skillset; determining utilisation of external design delivery channels or to reduce outages switchable section and synchronised outage opportunities;

    • Identifications of either concurrent design / construction activities and coordination with construction schedulers to meet RIS or secondary trades required i.e. jointers, TX switching, ‘A” grade electrician.

  • Profiling of project work via MS project with the creation of Gantt charts inclusive of milestones and the correct sequencing for completion of project meeting either the construction or design required by date

  • Develop, maintain, and store documentation relating to Schedule and Dispatch executional packages in line with Western Powers document management system processes.

  • Acts promptly to service the needs of customers.

  • Comply with required Scheduling and or Dispatch practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Promote continuous improvement within the team by share ideas, practises, and suggestions of how the schedule team can work with greater cohesion and efficiency.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Relevant tertiary or Trade based qualifications with electrical background preferred.

  • Sound Distribution and/or Transmission or Dx Design experiences with a sound knowledge of the entire network and assets and the requirements for scoping and scheduling work.

  • In depth knowledge of Distribution Network assets and construction or design work practices.

  • Experience with Western Power or equivalent management systems DQM, Cognos, Ellipse, WSMS, Spidaweb, etc.

  • Strong communication, presentation skills and interpersonal skills. Complimented by a desire to develop influencing/negotiation skills.

  • Ability to organise people and resources toward the effective and efficient pursuit of predetermined goals and objectives both operationally and strategically.

  • A desire to implement change and innovation, internally and via contract arrangements.

  • Strong experience with Microsoft office suite and project management systems are essential.
