Be part of projects that make a real difference to communities. We’re seeking a Community Engagement Specialist for an 18-month fixed-term opportunity to lead proactive stakeholder and community engagement across a range of initiatives. You’ll design and deliver best-practice engagement approaches that build trust, strengthen relationships, and keep communities informed and involved.

Your work will play a key role in improving stakeholder understanding of Western Power’s infrastructure and maintenance projects, helping reduce risk while delivering positive outcomes for both the organisation and the communities we serve.

Your Role in Action

  • Lead and deliver best-practice community and stakeholder engagement for Western Power infrastructure and maintenance projects, ensuring communities are informed, respected, and meaningfully involved.
  • Develop and implement strategic engagement plans and approaches that support successful project delivery and strengthen both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Contribute to shaping and continuously improving Western Power’s community and stakeholder engagement framework across new infrastructure and maintenance initiatives.
  • Create and deliver clear, engaging project communications including social media, digital content, community updates, media materials, speeches and publications, aligned with our brand and strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders, particularly Local Governments, project partners and community representatives, ensuring communications and engagement activities are aligned and collaborative.
  • Engage directly with communities through face-to-face meetings, events, and innovative digital channels (such as SMS and online platforms), while managing stakeholder enquiries and responding to escalated concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Act as a strong internal advocate for community perspectives, positively influencing awareness and adoption of best-practice engagement across the organisation.
  • Track, evaluate and report on engagement activities, outcomes and lessons learned, helping strengthen Western Power’s reputation, stakeholder relationships, and community trust while minimising project impacts.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Experience in communications, community engagement, stakeholder management, or a related field, with the ability to build strong connections with diverse communities and partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop engaging communication materials, including reports, project updates, promotional content, speeches and publications that support organisational objectives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and accessibly.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and confidence using digital tools to support communication and engagement activities.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while contributing ideas and initiative.

Applications close on 24 March 2026
