Step into a pivotal 12-month fixed-term opportunity as our Compliance and Information Governance Manager (parental leave cover), where you’ll play a key role in safeguarding and strengthening Western Power’s compliance framework. In this role, you’ll champion a positive compliance culture, proactively manage risks that could impact our strategy and reputation, and keep the business ahead of evolving regulatory requirements.

You’ll also drive the systems, practices, and strategies that ensure enterprise-wide compliance with key legislation, including the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act (WA) 2024, State Records Act (WA) 2000 and Freedom of Information obligations.

Your Role in Action

  • Lead and evolve a contemporary, enterprise-wide compliance and information management framework, ensuring policies, systems, and practices are robust, practical, and aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Own the information management strategy, including recordkeeping plans and optimisation of document management systems to support accessibility, governance, and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Champion a strong, values-driven compliance culture by embedding clear accountabilities into business planning, performance frameworks, and day-to-day operations.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across all functions to interpret legislative obligations, resolve complex issues, and drive consistent, efficient compliance practices across the organisation.
  • Design and deliver engaging compliance training programs (including Code of Conduct, corporate policies, and key legislation), while equipping leaders to confidently embed capability within their teams.
  • Proactively monitor, interpret, and influence regulatory change, ensuring the organisation is prepared, responsive, and positioned to deliver services efficiently within an evolving landscape.
  • Oversee compliance governance, including maintaining legislative obligation registers, managing breaches and escalation processes, and fostering a transparent, accountable reporting culture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Executive and Board, providing clear insights, assurance, and strategic guidance on compliance performance, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Demonstrated senior experience in compliance, audit, or regulatory environments.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply complex legislation, standards, and codes of conduct with accuracy and sound judgement.
  • Confident communicator, with experience preparing clear, insightful reports for Boards and Committees.
  • Skilled at translating complex concepts into simple, engaging messages that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Solutions-focused mindset, with a pragmatic approach to navigating compliance challenges and driving practical outcomes.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
