About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are on the lookout for an accurate and safety focused Survey Technician to join the Beta Hunt team on a permanent 8/6 roster.
This newly created position reports to the Senior Mine Surveyor, the Survey Technician is responsible for assisting ongoing survey activities in and around the mining operations; the delivery of correct and precise set-out of mine designs, drill patterns, temporary benchmarks and assisting in monitoring programs for our stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be expected to continue the development towards achieving a qualification in Surveying. Westgold will support this by on-site training and reimbursement of any TAFE fees incurred.
The role includes
- Assisting the Mine Surveyor to supply all survey requirements for the Underground and Surface mine operations while ensuring adherence to all statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health and Environmental standards and procedures
- Assist and aid in the collection of uphole survey data
- Liaising with internal stakeholders (technical services and operators)
- Development in completing the requirements for end of month calculations and reporting
- Calculations and computation of survey field work as per Mine Surveyors requirements
- Cleaning and maintenance of survey equipment including correctly storing equipment and checking for damage/faults
- Maintain survey vehicles
What do I need?
- Current unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s License
- National Police Clearance - 12 month validity
- Start of Tertiary qualifications in Surveying (desirable)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
